Happy New Year Suncoasters!

The new year is already shaping up to be another banner year with a calendar full of activities tailored just for you. Each year the Board goes through a process where new members come on board and members who have faithfully served decide to move on. In this issue I would like to thank those that served in 2013 but not serving on the 2014 Board.

Beth Curts came on as secretary in January, 2013 and served for the first half of the year. In that Beth is actively involved in the Toast of Tampa Show Chorus and they were competing on an international level, Beth needed to focus on her first love. Her dedication paid off as they placed third in the world in the November competition in Hawaii.

Eunice Painter served as the Social Director in 2013. Although Eunice isn’t on the board by name this year, she will work as hard, or harder, as anyone on the board. You will always see her with a smile on her face and reaching out to members, new and old, to assist them in any way she can and make them feel her special kind of warm welcome. That is a small part of what makes her a valuable go-to person when we need quality help on the board.

Jeremy Dixon served as the Memberships Director in 2012 and the first half of 2013. Jeremy remains active in the Region as a member and as an Instructor for our Driver’s Education program. Jeremy needed to focus more of his time and energy on his family and business. Jeremy brought in the name badge machine which has been a big added benefit as you can now obtain your name tag at many events.

Caroline Spencer served as Member-At-Large in 2012 and 2013. Caroline worked on multiple projects while she was on the Board and most recently oversaw advertising. She brought a new perspective to the Board in her quiet manner. Don’t fret! You will see more of Caroline as she is taking on the new task of PCA Parade Coordinator. Be on the lookout for information from her as she organizes our attendance at Parade as an experienced “Parader!”

Joe Shukys served on the board from 2010 – 2013 in several capacities with the most recent as the Charitable Endeavors Director. Joe needed to devote more time to his family and business and regretfully was unable to continue into 2014. Joe was an ambassador for our Region and was affectionately known as “PCA Joe.” We wish him all the best!

Jim Farmer served on the board from 2010 through mid-year 2013. He oversaw the design of the Website at the end of 2011. We thank him for the great look and feel of the Website and wish him all the best!

Although Sharron Shields wasn’t officially on the board in 2013, that didn’t stop her! She stepped up to the plate as a member of the Charitable Endeavors committee and led our first Golf Tournament to success. Thank you, Sharron! Great job!

You may be noticing it takes a “village” to plan and stage high-quality events the Suncoast Florida PCA offers you, our members. 2014 is starting off with a bang with our long-honored social tradition at the Colonnade followed by the world famous 48 Hours. I urge you to get behind the wheel of your beautiful Porsche, get involved, and your experiences will lead to a genuine heart-felt smile that will light up the world of everyone around you.
