Gimmick Rally – Polk County

This Gimmick Rally is our first rally of this year.  We have located the rally in Polk County to make it easier for our membership there, and in neighboring areas, to participate.  Per PCA General Rules, all cars registered for a rally must have a driver AND a navigator.  The driver must be a PCA member. More than one person may accompanying the driver–the more eyes the better for a Gimmick Rally.  We will have waivers available to sign at the starting point.  All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will sign for them.
We will gather beginning at 08:30 a.m. at the Florida Air Museum, 4075 James C. Ray Drive, Lakeland FL 33811. Please check in with the Hospitality Marshal to get the appropriate waivers signed. We will have coffee and pastries at the start. There will be a driver/navigator meeting at 09:00 to pass out and review the Rally Route Instructions, the abbreviations used, and some of the general rallying rules. After that the Start/Finish Marshal will get everyone queued up to launch at the appropriate interval.  At the terminus you will turn in your Rally Route Instruction sheets on which you will have written the answers to questions based on signs and landmarks along the route.  Ties will be determined by the corrected total miles driven.  If ties remain after accounting for miles driven, a 10 question trivia quiz will, it is to be hoped, resolve the tie.  The Safety/Scoring Marshal will inform the Rally Master of the winners. The quiz could also help determine who gets door prizes. The terminus of the rally will be at a restaurant where we’ll enjoy lunch on your own followed by the awards ceremony.  There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers and some door prizes. Those of us on the Rally Committee look forward to seeing you at this fun event.
