Here we are September! It seems like it was yesterday that I was humming the little tune about seeing you in September. Where did the summer go? I trust you had a safe and enjoyable one.

Missy is starting off September with a bang.  Literally. Our first try at driving through the woods in golf carts shooting skeet. I am looking forward to seeing all the smiling faces from the fun!  Driver’s Education is back in September and will also feature AutoCross and the successful Teen Driving School.  This weekend has shaped up to be one of the DEs that you will not want to miss!

Date Your Porsche Night is back this month. As much as you might not like to do it, please be sure to RSVP to this, and all, events.  We had a problem in July because 24 members showed up to a social that did not RSVP.  54 of you sent your RSVP, 78 of you showed up, and the room that was reserved held 70.  As a result, eight had to be seated outside in the hot weather and everyone had to deal with a restaurant that wasn’t prepared for the group. Please RSVP!

On a brighter, lighter note, Jay and Kim Jaskolka hosted the board of directors at their lovely home in June while we had our mid-year meeting and review.  The food was wonderful and all in attendance had a great time.  Thank you Jay and Kim!!

At the beginning of the year I mapped out topics to feature in each President’s Message so that I would recognize our hardest working volunteers.  Little did I know!  48 Hours at Sebring is one of the, if not ‘the,’ flagship event in PCA Club Racing.  The Committee that runs this event is from both the Suncoast and Gold Coast Regions with a co-chair representing each Region.  In June, the Committee met for a weekend of planning by recapping what worked and didn’t work at the 2014 race, started the planning process for 2015, and will meet again in September. The rest of the planning and execution is led by each chair and with a weekly conference call by all who are needed at that point of execution and led by the two co-chairs.  A big Thank You to this hard working committee and all of the volunteers that work the race to make this a flagship event! It’s because of you that it is so successful!

Congratulations to David Herndon!  Dave will be the 2015 Zone 12 Rep replacing David O’Neal from the Space Coast Region.  Back to the “little did I know” comment in the last paragraph.  David Herndon has been the 48 Hours co-chair representing Suncoast for many years. The Zone Reps work with all of the Regions and organize and attend the events on behalf of PCA National held in their Zone. It’s a busy job and a lot of work! After he realized holding both positions at the same time would not be wise, Dave turned in his resignation for the 48 Hours co-chair position. Congratulations to Grant Painter as the newly appointed co-chair for 48 Hours! Even though Dave will officially be the co-chair for the rest of 2014, and Grant will officially be the Chief Track Instructor until November 9, both will be working both jobs as Dave brings Grant up to speed on his new duties while he learns the ropes from David O’Neal and while Grant learns the ropes from Dave, he will continue to lead DE as the CTI and working with his replacement.  The new positions for both Dave and Grant are well deserved and we thank them for their many hours of work for PCA as well as a big hearty Congratulations! Movin’ on up!

Many thanks to Suncoast Motorsports; they are a wonderful group of folks!  Suncoast hosted us in July for our board meeting and social/membership meeting. They had several staff presentations during the program and provided door prizes for our trivia game.  The presentations were both informative and enjoyable and the door prizes were great! We are so fortunate to have wonderful dealerships that support us!  Be sure to support them!

See you at your next Suncoast event!
