SUMMARY:Tour to Linger Lodge
DESCRIPTION:Join your Tourmeisters and other PCAers on a driving tour to Linger Lodge on the Lazy Braden River.  Confirmed registrants and their guests should plan to gather between 11:15 am to 11:30 am on March 14 in Wimauma for a low pressure driving event of just over seventy miles on mostly little known paved public roads in southern Hillsborough and northern Manatee Counties.  We will make lunch reservations for all registered tour participants at the Linger Lodge.  While we will be touring in loose groups\, all registrants will receive written route instructions\, including the Linger Lodge address and the Tourmeister’s cell numbers. \nIn all Suncoast PCA tour events\, the laws of the road apply\, and participants must safely share the roads with non-tour vehicles and traffic.  For this event only\, our Gathering Place and start will be in back of the Church of God Convention Center\, 5504 FL (Route) 674\, Wimauma\, FL 33598\, on Nichols Ave\, just past the intersection of 10th Ave and Nichols Ave. \nThere is registration fee of $10/car with no refunds for this tour (and all 2020 tours)\, as the proceeds go directly into Suncoast Region’s charity fund.  A short explanation is due here; your Tourmeister is also the board member for Suncoast’s charitable endeavors.  A paid ClubReg registration and confirmation is not transferable to a non-registrant’s car.  We will establish a wait list for this tour\, if necessary.  \nAll Porsche vehicles are welcome\, including Boxster\, Cayman\, Cayenne\, and Macan\, all versions of the 356\, 911\, 914\, 928\, 944\, 968\, and any stray Taycans.  Yes\, if you have a 2005 Carrera GT and register that car\, we will squeeze you in the group.  Every tourmeister has biases.

Since the beginning 26 years ago our Committee has embraced this vision and welcomes each of you to our Club Race weekend. \n48 Hours has grown over the past 20 years to become one of the largest gatherings of Porsches in North America and is the kick-off for the 2020 Porsche Club Racing season. Your job\, as a volunteer\, is to work at one of the many tasks that come up during the race day\, make friends\, spend time marveling at the cars and above all to have a great time. Cheap Bricklin\, Shelby Dodges\, Mustangs\, Triumphs\, Merkurs and more. There are also many car parts\, especially Ford\, Merkur and Triumph TR7. \nWhen is the last time you saw a Studebaker Lark\, or even a Dodge Omni? Come see garaged “barn finds” including Delorean\, TR8\, 1967 Fairlane and Avanti!  Tell your car friends!  Even better\, bring a friend! \nMost of the cars have not run in a long time and will need some work to get running again. Some will need a lot of work. Please plan to see them on sale day. We have a car trailer\, so we might be able to negotiate delivery. \nThe 1998 Porsche Boxster is a special case. Drivers 16 years old and older who hold a valid learners permit or drivers license that have no restrictions during the hours the school takes place are eligible to participate. (i.e. If the participant is allowed to drive to and from the event without an adult required to be in the car with them).. \nThe primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars\, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. DESCRIPTION:In the Porsche world of street driven rear engine production cars there are three basic groups of progression. Many of the owners concur that although technology generally gets better in each generation\, much is lost in the past. Some feel the 356 was the beginning and is the true classic Porsche\, others feel the introduction of the 911 though 1998\, the air cooled models\, ended the true 911 Series. Many find that the liquid cooled 1999 on up versions are the most drivable and offer a new comfort and performance level. \nEach year the Porsche 356 Florida Owners Group (FOG) has a “Gathering of the Faithful” event. \nTwo years ago\, 35 Porsches got together and attended the FOG event. Those who went were left with two vivid impressions. The great road tour and beautiful 356`s we viewed. \nLast year we did Tour 02 to Howie-in-the-Hills to view the 356 Florida Owners Group Concours Event “The Gathering of the Faithful” It was a display the of 356 models that are among the best in the country. Rarely do you see this many 356 cars together. \nThis year I have planned a tour to their Concours event in Historic Downtown Lakeland on Saturday February 23. The setting will be at the Amphitheater on Lake Mirror. \nDetails: We will meet at Fords Garage Restaurant in Wesley Chapel at 8:00 am\, with a departure at 8:30. This is across from the Outlet Mall at I-75 and SR 56. We will take a leisurely and scenic (trailer parks to strawberry fields) tour to Lakeland. After the Concours there is shopping and lunch where everyone will be on their own. \nNotes: approx travel time 1 ½ hours\, 60 miles. \nTHIS IS NOT A PCA OR SUNCOAST REGION EVENT.
