The holidays are rapidly approaching, our snowbird friends are returning in droves, and we’re getting behind the wheels of our beautiful Porsches and enjoying life. November is starting off with a bang with our second annual Porsches and Putters golf tournament followed by an expanded Instructor Weekend.

We are excited about our Wine Tasting and Dinner Charity Event being held on November 15 at 7 PM at Mike Kwasin’s. Mike and his chef are creating an amazing menu that pairs well with wines and beer that have been selected for this occasion.

The cost to attend this event is $25 per person with 100% of the money going to Ready for Life. Ready for Life is a non-profit co-founded by Suncoast PCA member Bud Risser. Their mission is to engage foster care youth, private citizens and public resources to assist Pinellas County foster youth in a successful transition to adulthood. Foster care in Florida Terminates on the youth’s eighteenth birthday, regardless of where they are physically or developmentally, where they are living, or where they are in school.  The day that all look forward to suddenly becomes an event fraught with fear, worry and uncertainty. Ready for Life is committed to working with each and every young person in Pinellas County as they age out of foster care so that they will have a successful transition into adulthood!

Registration is open on ClubRegistration.net and closes on November 8 to ensure Mike and Chef will be prepared for everyone who attends.

We keep saying it’s the people but you know we keep saying it because it keeps on being true. We had another successful Tire Rack Street Survival Teen Driving program in September led by our Safety Chair, John Vita. Although the event had been swirling around most of the year, it was only decided on August 4 that it was full speed ahead. Wow. An all-star group was assembled. The members who volunteered were responsible to tech cars as well as instruct the teens on the course and taking a training course before the event.

As a result of the school, a huge impact was made on the teens who attended the school. They are better drivers, more aware of what’s going on around them, and have the knowledge and skills to be safer on the roads. The roads are safer because of the committee and volunteers that led and worked this event. The team was well prepared, and the feedback from students was positive. Although we can’t say for sure we have prevented any accidents, organizers of the program have been tracking data long enough to know for sure that the program works and unquestionably reduces the likelihood of accidents and injuries.

A big thank you to instructors and volunteers: Bill Rowell, Bill Stover, Brian West, Cory Corona, Danny Shields, Dave Herndon, Frank Quinones, John Vita, Kevin Duffy, Mark Lasota, Mark Mackenzie, Maury Hamill, Ralph Carr, Robert Goen, Russell Swope, and Steve Parrish. You are awesome!!!!

I hope your holidays are starting off wonderfully and your Thanksgiving feast is fit for royalty! See you in the curves.
