It has often been said that time passes quickly when you’re having fun. That must be why it is already March and spring is right around the corner. February was filled with many fun activities and the fun continues. Check out the schedule and fill up your calendar as we continue to add more activities and events for your pleasure.

If you haven’t seen our new website – check it out. Board member and webmaster, Paul Bienick, has done a tremendous job in transitioning our former website to a new site that has a fresh look and feel. Paul has many plans to continue to add new features to the site and is looking for your pictures from events that you attend. New advertising links have been updated and there are plans for more online opportunities for our sponsors and advertisers. Paul will be adding enhancements to the Profile online experience and much more. Stay tuned!

The calendar has been filling up with creative socials and events. Missy Teasley, our social director, has been hard at work and is doing an excellent job. Ricky P’s was a great venue for Date Your Porsche Night in February and coming up in March she is taking us back to the fabulous Collier Museum in Naples. She has put together a fun outing as we do the Crystal River Porsche Invasion. What will she think of next? Ted Stasney, who was our Profile editor for many years, is leading another trip to the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. This is an event that is always delivered in high style and those who attend always return with glowing reports.

2014 is looking to be another great year for our charitable endeavors area led by David Bassett. Our third annual event that is now called The Patrick Long ProAm Kart Race to Benefit All Children’s Hospital is again being held at Andersen Race Park. This event grows every year and is becoming a “must do” event. Come on out as a driver, volunteer to work the event, or as a spectator. Any option is a winner!

Mark your calendars for the Sunrise to Sunset Rally April 25 and 26. This first-class rally is an endeavor of love between our region, Suncoast, and two other regions, Space Coast and Citrus. The fun begins on Friday night at the Blue Skies, Green Lights party in Melbourne and continues at sunrise on Saturday morning overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After a fun day of playing in our beautiful Porsches, we end the day with laughing, dining, and awards overlooking the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. We are a fortunate group to have this wonderful opportunity and offhand I don’t know of another place in the world that offers such an experience.

You may notice a change in our calendar around the holidays. For years we have struggled to solve for the long-honored tradition of having a holiday party and a gala. Many of us on the board have worked on an alternative solution for many years and changing the gala from a yacht club venue to a museum was a step to move forward with a change. Changes will continue this year as we replace the holiday party with a charitable event at Mike Kwasin’s in November. More information on this new event will be revealed soon!

You may have heard many times that “It’s the people” when someone asks why we love the Porsche Club so much. I think that’s true. It is why we continue to grow in numbers and activities. If you’ve been hesitating about getting involved, just try an event and see how you like it. I promise it’s a certainty that you will be greeted with a warm smile.
